Recent Settlements and Verdicts

For more than 35 years, Finch McCranie, LLP has successfully helped hundreds of personal injury victims and their families receive compensation for their injuries or the deaths of their loved ones in Georgia.

On this page, you will find a list of some of the recent victories that we have secured for the injury clients that we represent.

  1. $11.7 million judgment: Finch McCranie, LLP won this wrongful death lawsuit against a trucking company.

  2. Multi-million dollar settlement: A young Georgia boy died from a traumatic brain injury after falling down a hidden opening at the Atlanta Civic Center theater auditorium. Finch McCranie, LLP managed to overcome some very challenging legal obstacles to negotiate the large settlement with the promoter and two security firms. Our personal injury lawyers found evidence showing that two other children previously sustained injuries when they fell through the same opening.

  3. $9 million judgment: motorcycle collision: Our lawyers obtained a $9 million judgment in Cobb County Georgia for a motorcyclist injured when a car ran a stop sign and collided with his motorcycle.

  4. $ 8 million judgment: Our personal injury client was permanently injured in a motor vehicle collision. A Georgia jury awarded our client punitive damages against the defendant who tried to leave the accident scene.

  5. Our Georgia premises liability lawyers persuaded a federal judge to hold a private school organization responsible for continuing to allow the use of dangerous plate glass in an exit door--even after tempered or other safety glass became a requirement in new construction. Our personal injury client sustained disabling arm and hand injuries in the unsafe premises accident. Finch McCranie, LLP was able to refute the defense's arguments that the glass was permissible because it did not violate building codes at the time of installation.

  6. $4,735,000 verdict: workplace electrocution-wrongful death: A Rockdale County Georgia jury awarded our clients this verdict against the City of Conyers for the death of a repairman electrocuted while attempting repairs in a manhole.

  7. $4 million recovery: product liability: exploding oven: The firm obtained a $4 million verdict for the family of a man killed when a commercial oven he was operating exploded.

  8. $3.2 million recovery: Our attorneys secured a settlement for the family of a 64 year old woman who was instantly killed  after her vehicle collided with the rear of a tractor trailer attempting to make an illegal right turn from the lefthand lane of a roadway.

  9. $2 million limits settlement:   The firm obtained the full limits of coverage for the death of a 32 year old man killed by a DUI driver.

  10. $1.6 million: Finch McCranie, LLP obtain the maximum coverage limit in a wrongful death case, in which a woman's adult children died in a tractor-trailer crash on Georgia's I-75. The mother worked at a Kroger store and was 54 years old.

  11. $1.5 million recovery: Finch McCranie lawyers secured a settlement for a 23 year old woman seriously injured when her car was struck head on by a vehicle driven by an elderly driver. The elderly driver was killed in the accident and her insurance limits were $300,000.00. Our attorneys were able to recover another $1.2 million from her estate.

  12. $1.5 million: Our client, who was injured in a truck accident, received the largest amount recoverable from insurance coverage. The injuries he sustained in the truck collision included a closed head injury and physical injuries. His head injury caused him to have organic mood disorder. He was not able to go back to his successful career as a machinist. Prior to the trial, the insurance companies paid their $1.5 million policy limits to the client so the case could be resolved before going to trial.

  13. $1.5 million: motorcycle collision: leg amputation: Finch McCranie lawyers negotiated a $1.5 million settlement for a motorcyclist who lost a leg when she was struck by another driver.

  14. $1 million recovery - maximum limits - municipal liability: Our lawyers obtained a $1 million recovery for the family of a young lady killed when her car was struck by a vehicle fleeing from the police. This was the maximum amount allowed under Georgia law.

  15. A Georgia deputy sheriff died while trying to serve a warrant. Finch McCranie, LLP represented his widow. We helped her receive compensation available to families of slain law enforcement officers. We also helped her establish an estate. Our law firm did not charge our client a fee. We viewed the amount of time and money we spent on this case as a matter of public service.

  16. Confidential Settlement: Finch McCranie, LLP was able to negotiate a confidential medical malpractice settlement for the parents of a young child that died because of anesthesia-related complications. Based on the pre-lawsuit research and investigation that our medical malpractice lawyers conducted, we were able to settle this case not long after we filed the medical malpractice lawsuit.

  17. Confidential Settlement: Our medical malpractice attorneys were able to negotiate a confidential settlement soon after filing our medical malpractice lawsuit for our client, age 21, whose knee was amputated because medical staff at a Georgia hospital failed to diagnose the injury that she sustained in a fall.

  18. High Six-Figure Settlement: Our elderly client had to undergo the same surgery again because of a defective medical device. Finch McCranie, LLP negotiated a products liability settlement for our client.
